Not sure what to say?

Back in 79 I had the great privilege of working under Master Woodcarver Jim Lohman, then of Boston, and upon my drooling over the pictured piece, he casually gave it to me. He had carved it "before the bloom wilted" as a quickie exercise. I spent a dozen or so hours making a copy. I have just now read of his passing and am so saddened by the news. Jim was so talented and giving and shared so much with me, including making me, unrequested, a complete set of carving gouges. My job transfer...

Losing someone that we love never comes easy.

Isaiah 65:17 comfort and help you.

Ruskin Quote Tribune Tower Lobby Floor

I had the distinct privilege of working with Jim these past seven years and was aware of his carving work in the Tribune Tower lobby. One day, when I happened to be in Chicago, I was able to walk into the lobby to view his work first hand. It was, of course, absolutely beautiful, but something else inset prominently into the lobby floor also caught my attention. It was a quote from John Ruskin's The Seven Lamps of Architecture. I went home and found the fuller context...

Jim thank you for putting creative touches on my home. You will be missed.
I am so sorry to the family.
