Not sure what to say?

Deep heartfelt condolences to family and all involved. I just found out now in August, worrying before that I could not contact him. I knew him from my Coast Guard time early 1970s in Mobile , later in the service in Calif and Oregon, and stayed in touch ever since. When my son and I would travel to New England we would stop in at times to see him and Janice, and at the restaurant, etc. He will be missed, and agree with all the reasons why, as chronicled in the memories and messages above....

I was sorry to hear the passing of Jim. I first met Jim when he came to work at Wayfarer Ketch around 1980. We became friends over the years and the 2 words that come to mind when I think of Jim are wit and sarcasm! He always seemed to have both in great supply! My condolences go out to Jan, Justin and Sarah, I am sorry for your loss.

Sarah, we were saddened to hear of the Commander's passing, our thoughts & prayers are with you and family. What a beautiful send-off and narration of Jim's amazing life, your Father would be very proud of you. The Commander loved his Coast Guard and was very involved until the end, he regularly attended events at the USCG Academy. I met Jim when he owned Zavalah's Mexican restaurant, where he graciously hosted many State Police Emerald Society meetings. Baseball was Jim's passion and he was...

My condolences to Jan and the family. Jim & I flew together for many years and for many of Wayfarer Aviation clients, including Chase Manhattan Bank. We received our type rating together in the Challenger at Flight Safety in Montreal, CA Jim & I traveled to many destinations and had many laughs and good golf games. He was what I call one of the good guys. RIP Jim

My condolences to all of Jim's family. I moved to CT in 2015 and met Jim soon after that. He immediately became a friend and mentor. Thank you Jim for your friendship and your advocacy of CG aviation. - Muddy

Jim could say more in five words than most men could say in a book!
