James F. McCrary

McCRARY James F. McCrary (Daddy Jim), 92, of St. Augustine, passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at his residence. James was born on May 17, 1918 in Westpoint, Arkansas to the late Wiley Frank McCrary and Beaulah (Jones) McCrary. He served in the US Army, under General Patton, and was a WWII Veteran. James was the Owner/ Operator of the McCrary's Grocery Store located on E. Church St. in Jacksonville, from where he retired. He then spent his retirement in St. Augustine as a Rancher. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Temple, Lodge #23 F. & A.M. in Jacksonville for over 60 years. James was also an avid golfer. James was preceded in death by his wife, Melvarine McCrary and his son, Franklin Wayne McCrary Sr. Survivors include his daughter-in- law, Carol R. McCrary of St. Augustine; his 3 grandchildren; Julie McCrary Post and her husband Allen of Gainesville, FL; Franklin Wayne McCrary Jr. and his wife Jennifer of St. Augustine; and Warren R. McCrary and his wife Melanie of St. Augustine; his 7 great-grandchildren; James (Rebecca) Westbrook, Brandon (Tiffany) Westbrook, Zachary Williams, Mason Williams, Alyssa McCrary, Alexis McCrary, and Liberty Ann McCrary; his 2 great, great grandchildren, Parker and Jacob Westbrook; and his beloved sister-in-law, Crystelle Stringer of Jacksonville. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 24 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin, 11801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 24 at 11:00 am, in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin with Pastor Ted Owens as Officiant, followed by Entombment at Evergreen Cemetery, 4535 Main Street, Jacksonville. Memorial donations may be made in memory of James to the Petra Baptist Church, 161 Hampton Dr., St. Augustine, FL 32092 or to the Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Rd., Jacksonville, FL.
