Just today I was thinking of Arthur, Larry Jimmy, and their parents James and LaVerne. My father died when I was four. But Mr. Nimmo was one of the neighborhood dads who stepped right up, so I did not feel I was missing anything. He'd take me with his own kids ice skating, or to Hamburger Junction.
