James Pulliam Obituary

James Allan Pulliam, 58, died on March 14, 2014, in Tulalip, Washington, from injuries sustained in a workplace accident. Born on September 20, 1955, in Seattle, Washington and raised in Snohomish, Jim remained active in sports his entire life. Baseball was his first love and he played on many successful Little League and high school teams. He was one of the first lifeguards at the inauguration of the Hal Moe Pool in 1972. He became an excellent golfer, despite the fact that he was an extremely left handed person who played from the right side because they were the only clubs available to him. He attended Snohomish High School where he toured Europe as a trumpet player in the marching band, acted in school plays, and played on the baseball team. Upon graduation in 1973, he continued to play baseball for Everett CC. He joined the US Marine Corps in 1975 and upon completion of his duty returned to Snohomish and attended college. Utilizing his golf skills, Jim began working at the Snohomish Golf Course where he earned membership in the Professional Golfers Association. Upon the opening of the Battle Creek Golf Course in Marysville, Jim moved to the new course as the head professional in 1991, and he was working at the course at the time of his death. Jim was a devoted family man and was involved with the local community and the United Methodist Church. He is survived by his two daughters, Jenna (Joe) Nijem of Everett, WA and Karinne Pulliam of Irvine, CA; his mother, Marilyn Pulliam, of Snohomish, WA; his brothers and sister, John Pulliam of Seattle, WA, Jan (Pete) van Leynseele of Mukilteo, WA, Jeff (Shellie) Pulliam of Bellingham, WA; and Jay Pulliam of Snohomish, WA; and grand-child, Ramsey Nijem. He is preceded in death by his father, Dr. James A. Pulliam, in 2011. A memorial service to celebrate Jim's life will take place 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2014, 2400 Lake Ave., Snohomish, WA 360-568-5755

I am sorry for your loss and was shocked to hear about Jim's accident. I met Jim when we were paired together during our players ability test to get into the PGA of America many years ago, we had a great time that day and it was great to be able to see Jim all over the area at many tournaments and events. He was a really great guy to me and I always enjoyed his positive attitude and friendship.
