James Ryan Obituary

Dr. James Joseph Ryan, 85, a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather, passed away on September 1, 2025, in Timonium, Maryland.

A man of simple pleasures, Jim was known for his unwavering commitment to his family, friends, and causes close to his heart. A deeply respected and gifted physician, he built a career-long reputation on the foundation of care, compassion and mentorship, touching countless lives. Outside of his professional life, Jim found joy in the quiet rituals of reading, storytelling, and nature-watching on the rolling hills of his beloved home. He will be profoundly missed.

Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ginny Ryan. He is survived by his children, Colleen Schmidt and her husband Douglas, Beth Savitz and her husband David, Heather Ryan, Jamie Ryan and his wife Sarah, and Andrew Ryan and his wife Dani. He was a loving grandfather to Jackson, Kathryn, Conner, Emily, Landon, Emerson, Cameron, Maddie, and Liam. Also survived by loving friends and former colleagues.
