James Stone Obituary

STONE James Edd Stone, 64, passed away July 7, 2011 in Jacksonville, FL. Edd was born in Jacksonville on July 24, 1946. He graduated from Paxon High School in 1964 and served 3 years in the Army, including a tour in Vietnam before attending and graduating from the University of Florida. He taught middle school for a number of years and acquainted many students with the wonders of geography and the nuances of the English language. Edd was an ardent student of the social studies and never passed up an opportunity to explain or analyze history or debate a political point. He was a true champion of justice and freedom and that fueled his love of politics. He especially loved the Gators and spent every fall football Saturday at Florida Field. Go Gators! He loved life and was devoted to his family. He will be sorely missed by his wife 30 years, Sue and his beloved daughter, Mandy, her husband Rick and their beautiful daughter, Isabel. Bo, his furry son, will certainly miss his company. In addition, his sisters, Terry and Sharon, his nephew Brian and a loving and caring extended family, including his Rochester brothers and sisters will keenly feel his loss. Friends and family are invited to gather in his honor during a visitation on Monday, July 11 from 5-7 pm. We invite you to share your stories and honor his memory with your fond reminisces. The family requests no flowers. Instead, donations to Community Hospice or the Jacksonville Humane Society will be appreciated. Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com

Eddie knows I love him, and I had the opportunity to say that to him on the Thursday before he passed. He said, I love you too. A very special moment for me.
Eddie was funny and smart. I can see him now sitting on the other side of the room in English class with Ms. Westling. Always asking questions, while the rest of the class was entranced by his thoughts. Now he has those answers.

To the family of Ed,
My heartfelt sympathy to all of you. Eddy, as we called him in school, was an intelligent, interesting, funny and articulate young man. I was in several classes with him. Our most memorable was Mrs. Wessling's senior English class. Eddy ran cross-country with us. He was an all-around great guy. He had a lot of friends in high school.
