To the family of Professor Underwood, I am so sorry for your loss. He was one of my favorite Law Professors at USC Law, and absolutely unforgettable. May God bless him and you and ease your pain of loss.

Jim was a good friend and colleague at the law school. His important scholarship was an inspiration to all his colleagues. His good cheer, sense of humor, and friendliness will all be missed. His life was a good one, and we know that he will rest in peace.

I was in the 1973 graduating class. He was perhaps the most popular faculty member at the law school. He also taught the premier course, Con Law. A perfect match of a golden professor teaching this subject during the Supreme Court´s golden era, before the recent college departed contentious children of the 60´s.
