Not sure what to say?

In June of 1986, I was a new graduate nurse in Labor and Delivery at Norfolk General Hospital. Dr Via was an attending OB/GYN. Through the years, Dr Via taught me so much and helped mold me into the nurse I am today. I remember him writing in his little black book about each and every baby he delivered. He had a great laugh and smile. He was also a great story teller. He will always be remembered as a great man and physician. My thougths and prayers are with his family

I moved to Norfolk in 1982, found out I was pregnant and Dr. Via's group was recommended to me. He was the first doctor I saw in the group and he made me feel so safe and secure during my pregnancy. He insisted he was going to deliver my daughter whether he was on call or not and he did. Twenty-two years later, he delivered my granddaughter, and he was my doctor until he retired. I have never felt so comfortable with a doctor and I have missed him greatly since he retired. Dr. Via was a...

I knew Dr. Via since I was a student nurse and he was a resident. He became my physician and he remained so until he retired. Dr. Via was such a wonderful caring physician and I was lucky to have had him deliver my first child. He was always such a kind man. I will always remember him and his wonderful laugh. Condolences to his children who he spoke of with pride to me on many occasions.

Dr. Via delivered all 3 of our daughters. He made my deliveries such wonderful experiences! His caring ways were his trademark and everyone who met him, loved him. There will never be another Doctor like him. He will be greatly missed.

Prayers for the family. May your wonderful memories comfort you during this time. Dr. Via was a very special person. He answered any questions like the answers were as important to him as they were to the parents to be! He was truly loved by many!

I offer my sincere condolences to you. Dr. Via delivered my daughter in 1977. When I arrived at the hospital that morning, he predicted almost to the minute the time that she would be born that night! He was a kind and special person and I was blessed to have him as my doctor until he retired. I will keep your family in my prayers.

Dr. Via delivered both my children.....what a great guy!! Kathy Robison

Dr.Via and I have been friends for 59 years, since our first year at UVA. He will be missed by all who knew him.

I was so saddened to hear this. Dr. Via was such a loving, gentle man. My mother was his thirty-fourth patient. He delivered me, and he delivered my daughter in the summer of 2004. She was one of his last deliveries. I was so distraught when he retired before my son was born. I saw him from time to time around the office, so I was able to give him a hard time about it. Jokingly, of course. He was always smiling. Please accept my condolences on your loss. I'll remember him fondly.
