James Stidger Weimer, 84, of Waynesburg, died at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2018, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
He was born Tuesday, June 13, 1933, in Waynesburg, a son of the late Vance Weimer and Irene Cummins Weimer.
Mr. Weimer enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, classic cars and making stained glass lamps. He was a graduate of Waynesburg High School, Class of 1951. He then served in the U.S. Air Force at Forbes Air Force Base in Topeka, Kansas, from December 1952 to December 1956. He was employed at Columbia Gas-Transmission from 1956 to August 1994, retiring as a supervisor.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara "Babs" Wunder Weimer, whom he married September 19, 1953, in Topeka, Kansas.
Also surviving three sons, Dr. Vance Weimer and wife Andrea of Smithfield, Mike Weimer and wife Mary Ellen of Howard and Dan Weimer of Waynesburg; eight grandchildren, Leslie Rogers and husband Stafford, James A. Weimer and wife Dena, Ben Weimer, Joe Weimer and wife Katie, Cody Weimer, Cindy Weimer, Joe Weimer and Jay Weimer; eight great-grandchildren, Alana Weimer, Addison Weimer, Ian Weimer, Alex Rogers, Zack Rogers, Ahearn Weimer, Wyatt Weimer and Robert Martin; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are sister Leoda Weimer Stewart and brother Ronald B. Weimer.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 11, in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, owner/director, 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, PA 15370, where services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 12, with Dr. Donald Wilson officiating. Burial will be held in Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Township, Greene County.
