I am one of Hugh’s classmates from Burton Elementary School. I wish to extend condolences to Hugh and his family at this difficult time.

Hugh, our hearts and prayers go out to you and your family during this difficult time. When Janet was around, it never was a quiet time!! Our deepest sympathy to Hugh and all your family. You became our closest friends when you and Sam started your jobs with DuPont in Orange, Texas in 1965. We loved you both so much and had so many wonderful times together. Janet was so outgoing and made such a great impression on us. I met Janet in 2019 through Christ United Methodist Church. I will always remember her positive attitude and enthusiasm for life as she met the challenges that each day presented. Her smiling face and kind spirit was comforting and her happiness was contagious. She always made my day better. I am thankful for having known her as a friend. My thoughts and prayers are with Hugh and the family.

I was privileged to know Janet at Hillsboro in 1957-58 and then years later as Hugh's wife. My friendship with the two of them endured long periods of little contact but blossomed when we did get together again. She was an enthusiastic school nurse, mother, wife, athlete, and friend. She lived fully and generously. She was a faithful church member and she nourished friendships in Texas as well as in Tennessee.
