JEAN HODGE Obituary

Together Again Jean Thompson Hodge was born on October 28, 1927, in Los Angeles, CA. She passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2016, in Fresno, CA. Jean graduated from Fresno High in 1945 with her future husband, Clarence 'Jack' Hodge. They were married in February of 1946, in Fresno. Jean worked as a medical secretary to put Jack through medical school in Washington, D.C. They moved back to Fresno after Jack graduated in 1957. Jean was a member of the Eastern Star Raisina Chapter #89 O.E.S., where she served as Worthy Matron and Deputy Grand Matron of the Grand Chapter of California, O.E. S. She was also a member of Sharon Temple Daughters of the Nile, and Past Noble Grand of Fresno Rebekah Lodge #58 Fresno, California. Jean was active in and served as President in both St. Agnes Women's Club and the Medical Alliance. She enjoyed needlepoint, knitting, and playing bridge. Jean was preceded in death by Clarence, her husband of 68 years; her parents, Elvira Thompson, and P. Edward Thompson; step-mother, Louise Thompson; and mother-in-law, Ruby Hodge Wynegar. She is survived by her daughters, Linda LaMontagne and her husband William of Clovis, CA, and Lynn Lewis and her husband Mark of Bakersfield, CA; granddaughter, Michelle Loel and her husband Grant; two grandsons, Onnis Newell, Jr., and Nathan Newell; one great-granddaughter, Ashlyn Loel; sister-in-law, Jeri Rainey; and two nieces, and their families. Visitation will be held at Boice Funeral Home on Saturday, March 26, 2016, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at New Hope Community Church, 4620 E. Nees Ave., Clovis, CA, on Monday, March 28, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. A reception to follow. There will be a private Graveside Service for family. In lieu of flowers, the family su ggests that remembrances be made to the Saint Agnes Medical Center Foundation, P.O. Box 27350, Fresno, CA 93729-09804; or Nancy Hinds Hospice, 2490 W. Shaw Ave., Suite 101, Fresno, CA 93711.

Linda, Lynn and family my thoughts are still so grateful for having known and shared with Jean and all of your family Everytime the women's group meets I still feel that desire to see and share with Jean she was always there Special prayers for all of you as her anniversary of her "Flight into Heaven'' comes around. Dear family members and friends of Jean Hodge, My prayers and sympathy have been with you since the moment I heard of Jean's death, My prayers will continue, I am so very sorry that I cannot attend the Services Monday at New Hope Community Church,However I will offer special prayers in our Hospital chapel I knew as you know Dr. Hodge, as well as Jean and I am very gratefull that their path in life crossed mine.If I can do anything for any of Jean's family and extended family and friends, please do not hesitate to cal upon me. at St. Agnes.
