Jeanette Silvey Obituary
Born in Gilmer Co., Ellijay, Ga., she was educated at Ellijay High School, where she was a member of The National Beta Club, Glee Club and Basketball Team. Mrs. Silvey was a Graduate of Strebel University, a member of The Daughters of The American Revolution, Athens Shrinettes, Eastern Star Chapter 278, The Noon Club, Ladies Garden Club, a Girl Scout Leader for several years, Athens Woman's Club, a Lioness, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2872, Athens, Widows and Widowers Club of YAARAB Temple, Athens Bridge Club, a member of American Legion Auxiliary, Loganville, Athens Historical Society, Inc., Vice President of Silvey Motor Co., and a member of Vineville Baptist Church, Macon, Ga.
She was preceded in death by husband, Thomas Hugh Edwards and husband, Daniel Russell Silvey; parents, Mr. & Mrs. B. R. Vandergriff, Sr., Ellijay, Ga.; sister, Daris Fuller; brother, Benson Reed Vandergriff, Jr.; baby, Brenda Edwards and daughter, Donna Jean Meadows.
Survivors include daughter, Laraine Tinsley, McDonough, Ga.; son, Thomas Daniel Edwards, Jefferson, Ga.; granddaughters, Marti Meadows Garmon, Melly Meadows (Dr. Ian) McCutcheon, Houston, Texas, Tina Tinsley (Danny) Bloodworth, Tanya Tinsley Costa and Elizabeth Edwards; grandsons, Thomas James Tinsley and Ethan Daniel Edwards; great-grandchildren, Austin and Melly Ainsworth, Corey Costa, Hannah Bloodworth and Jordan Whatley; brother, Victor Vandergriff, Ellijay, Ga.; sisters, Margaret Griffey, Chattanooga, Tenn. and Myrtle Pressley, Ranger, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM Friday, March 16, 2007 at Bernstein Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. James Truitt Gannon officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 PM Thursday, March 15, 2007 at Bernstein Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Bloodworth, Corey Costa, J. Donald Fowler, Jeff Garmon, David Griffey, John Bob Gudger, Casey Keesee and Jim Pridgen. Bernstein Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. www.bernsteinfuneralhome.com

Jeanette was a gracious lady and a wonderful friend. She and my grandmother were good friends through Ladies Garden Club and Athens Women's Club, and I enjoyed knowing her through LGC and Athens Historical Society. Our thoughts are with you - she will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
