Jeffrey Duncan Obituary

Indianapolis - Jeffrey David Duncan, 68, of Indianapolis, passed away on March 13, 2025, after a courageous battle with prostate cancer. The son of William Dean and Barbara Lou Duncan, he was born May 28, 1956, in Chicago, IL.

Jeff had a wonderful childhood in Fort Wayne, IN, enjoying many sports in his youth, especially hockey. Jeff graduated from R. Nelson Snider High School in 1974 before attending Indiana University and settling in Indianapolis.

Jeff followed in his father's footsteps spending 30+ years with Prudential selling insurance before retiring. In his time at Prudential he won numerous awards, traveled around the world and was a qualifying member of the Million Dollar Round Table. After retirement, he continued to sell insurance and spent the rest of his life assisting family and friends with insurance and financial questions. He was extremely knowledgeable, and he had a passion for helping people.

Jeff's greatest pride was being a father to his three children. He devoted his life to following his kids' activities: hockey, dance, tennis, wrestling, swimming and golf. As his children started their own families, he shared this same love with his grandchildren and supported them in all their activities and sports. Jeff was so proud of his children and loved spending time with them and his grandkids. He was happiest either watching sports or sitting in the sun surrounded by those he loved most.

It is hard to convey in words the legend of Jeff's personality, but if you ever had the pleasure of meeting him, you know. Jeff knew no strangers. He had an unmatched curiosity and love for all people. Whether a CEO or Jeff's favorite people at the grocery store, he was interested in your story. He was a fascinating conversationalist and had a keen interest in everything from sports to wilderness shows to politics to the stock market. Jeff loved Indianapolis and was a big Colts fan. Jeff loved the Indianapolis 500 and attended many races. Jeff was a man of strong and everlasting faith, worshipping for 40 years at Second Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis.

Jeff is survived by his children, Abigail Duncan Wessel (Mike) and Seve Duncan (Kayla); his grandchildren, Ellie, Caroline and Claire Wessel, Elijah, Chance, Fletcher, Christian and Savannah Duncan; his siblings, Tamara Duvall (Greg), Melissa Smith (Tim) and Tim Duncan (Cheryl), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and too many friends to count. Jeff was preceded in death by his beloved parents, his sister Deborah, and his son Kyle.

A visitation will be held at Second Presbyterian Church, 7700 N. Meridian Street, from 9:00 - 10:30 AM on Tuesday, March 25th, followed by a 10:30 AM memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Second Presbyterian Church.

Hello Everyone!! We all are here to celebrate the Life of our beloved Jeff. He was honorable, generous, kind, helpful beyond expectations. He was good husband and a loving, caring Father to his children. He greatly loved his grandchildren. Jeff never met a stranger. We met many years ago on the steps of his Church, when I was leaving after the service was over. I had just arrived in Indy a few days before. We became friends fast. Jeff introduced me to friends, restaurants and shops. He provided me with assistance and advice about my business ventures. My life in Indy will never be the same. We all lost someone very special, loved by many. Someone who touched many hearts. He will forever be loved and never forgotten. He is in Heaven under God's love and care. He is looking down on us knowing that we all loved him so much! Marta Catoira

Hard to express Jeff´s impact on our lives. He was always there for me and my family, so much so that he quickly became part of it. He was one of a kind. There will be no other. And we miss him greatly. Love you Jeff.

I met Jeff through my mom, Marta. They were friends for the last 10 years or so. They went to church together often. Very soon, Jeff became her best friend in Indianapolis. He helped her with all types of issues, from insurance to making calls to the cable company. He was more than welcome at our house for dinner, any time. He was so knowledgeable to talk to, in so many different topics! What struck me the most about Jeff was how much he loved his kids and how proud he was of them. I knew a lot about Abbey long before I met her, because he talked about her all the time. I really thought he was going to win this battle again. I hope he knew how much he was loved by the Catoira and Boyle families. Rest in Peace my friend, you are in Heaven for sure.

Jeff was a longtime friend (50 years). He loved his family fiercely. He guided me through all sorts of insurance situations with kindness and patience. Gone far too soon ... rest well Jeff you fought this horrible disease with strength and faith. You will be missed my friend
