Jeffrey Lee Fairchild

Well dear friend, when I think of you it will be of those days at Marion College when you were a larger than life superstar. When we had the world by the tail. When we stayed up late talking about the future. When you talked me into joining the Air Force. Sleeping on your couch. When you stood next to the pole vault mats so you could watch me, "Fall back to earth" as you used to say. I still remember passing you the baton in the 400 meter relay in 3rd place and watching you cross the finish...

Mr. and Mrs. Fairchild...it's been 38 years,but I can still see Jeffrey running those sprints in a track meet and blowing everybody away, winning the Fred Kinder Memorial award in Logansport, winning the sectional in Lafayette, going to the regionals, and eventually to state competition. He gave me some memories that I will always cherish. He was a kind young man with a good head on his shoulders.
