Not sure what to say?

I met Jeff at the AP Reading in New Jersey back in the late 80s. Hanging with him at the Reading into the 90s was an annual enjoyment. I'll miss our sharing baseball prognostications and frustrations each year via postcards. A great teacher and friend. My sympathy to Jackie and the family.

Jeff and I were classmates at Siena College, Class of '70. He was always a quiet, gentleman scholar. To read now about his strong influence on his students, and his success as an author, is testament to a life well-lived. My condolences to his family.

I'll remember our play reading group forever! Those were great times.

Mr. Laing was my English/Literature and Latin teacher in the late 70's at the all female, Notre Dame H.S. on Staten Island. Mr. Laing was pretty much a saint. He was kind, interested, and all togetether un-unflappable. His Gothic literature class was so modern and edgy. I am so sorry to hear of his loss and grateful to be able to remember this lovely man. Deepest sympathy to Mrs. Laing and family.

Mr lainge was one of my favorite teachers this really broke my heart

I was fortunate to have studied English Lit with Mr Laing at Notre Dame Academy on Staten Island, and remember him fondly. My sincere condolences to Mrs Laing, and family

I was lucky to have studied literature and Latin with Jeff while I was in high school back in the '70's. He was a huge influence in my life, and I am heartbroken to learn of his passing. Sending my love and prayers, Jackie. I picture him at a Heavenly bar, chatting with Eugene O'Neill and some of his favorite baseball players.

Jeff has been a family friend for over 30 years. He & Jackie both nurtured my love of reading, and of theatre. They generously encouraged me, by sharing plays and novels, and inviting me to visit theatres with them. Jeff's theatre reviews and artist profiles for www.santafe.com shone a light on many performing artists & their work in Santa Fe, and beyond. I am grateful for his friendship, and will miss his wry political commentary & humor. My heart is with Jackie during this time.

Deepest condolences. I will miss visiting and hearing Jeff's stories.
Glad I was able to be part of Jeff's friends and neighbors.
He supported my efforts during graduate school.
Jackie.. my friend..I am here for you!!
