Not sure what to say?

My condolences to the family. I worked with Jerry from 1978 - 83 in Grand Rapids at the University Consortium Center. He was a kind, visionary leader, loved and respected by all. Merry Malfroid and Leonard ? worked with UM, Cheryl Scheerhorn worked with MSU, Gladys Sims and I worked with WMU with Dick Burke and Geoff Smith, and MariJo Dys and Doug Vance and Jim Schultz worked with GVSU. Those were wonderful times. We all stayed in higher ed. Merry died a few years ago, Gladys is still working.

What a blessing it was to walk in the light that shone through Jerry's life. Though our time together was relatively brief, the memories of being in the company of a child of the universe who shared his joy in the wonders of creation with everyone he met will last a lifetime.

Our hearts go out to Linda and the rest of his family who have to deal with the tear in the fabric of their lives that can never truly be repaired. We will miss him terribly, but we are all better human beings...

The best big brother in all of world ,He was the kindness most loving caring person on this earth. RIP LOVE we still had some things to iron out.

Jerry was the most pure source of light and love in this world. He is truly irreplaceable.

We spoke about religion and God for a long time and he comforted me and made me think profoundly about my place and my role in this world. Little did I know how many changes would be taking place...

I had the pleasure of having Dr. Halverson as my professor twice in my masters program, just recently last quarter. We instantly connected as it was evident that we both loved the Lord and both signed our emails with "Blessings." In addition he inspired and empowered me. He saw so much potential in me and encouraged me to continue my education to the Doctorate level. He thought that I could "change the world." His feedback, support, mentorship, and kindness was very much appreciated. I...

My prayers, thoughts, and memories of long ago are with the brother and sisters of Jerry . Prayerfully,

2014 Graduation

Jerry was such a blessing to me in my doctoral pursuits. Not only that, his friendship was highly valued. Jerry was a positive soul and an encouragement academically and professionally. I'm so glad he was able to do my hooding back in 2014 - what a privilege. Blessings and peace to the family as you have lost a very good man.

Dear Halverson Family,

My thoughts and prayers are with you. May the Lord be your peace and strength during this difficult time.
