Jerome V. Svec

Jerry and I were good friends growing up on Chicago's West Side and being members of the Grenadiers Drum & Bugle Corp. Jerry could throw a mean fastball!

Jerry was my good buddy in the Austin neighborhood and with the Grenadiers. We used to play catch for hours in the alley behind our homes. Jerry had a good fastball and was a great drummer. Always a good friend and was glad to see him in Minnesota in later year.

Jerry Svec was one of the "good guys" in my life. We grew up a couple of doors apart. We played "kick the can" in the alley and all the other games played by happy kids in the '40s. Jerry was also a good pitcher and I used to be his catcher in the alley for hours at a time. He would always throw me curves without telling me first just to keep me sharp. Dear Pat and family my deepest condolences. Jerry was a wonderful person. I very much enjoyed the conversations we had. I still find it hard to believe he passed away. My heart goes out to you in this time of sorrow.

I was saddened to hear of your loss. Please know how very sorry I am. We hold you safe in our hearts at this time of sadness.

I knew Jerry through his wife and my friend, Pat. We had some good discussions and laughs, and I know his wife will miss him a great deal.
