Jerry and I were good friends growing up on Chicago's West Side and being members of the Grenadiers Drum & Bugle Corp. Jerry could throw a mean fastball!

Jerry was my good buddy in the Austin neighborhood and with the Grenadiers. We used to play catch for hours in the alley behind our homes. Jerry had a good fastball and was a great drummer. Always a good friend and was glad to see him in Minnesota in later year.

Jerry Svec was one of the "good guys" in my life. We grew up a couple of doors apart. We played "kick the can" in the alley and all the other games played by happy kids in the '40s. Jerry was also a good pitcher and I used to be his catcher in the alley for hours at a time. He would always throw me curves without telling me first just to keep me sharp. We also spent many fun years together in the Grenadiers Drum & Bugle Corps. I joined the Grenadiers first as I played the trumpet. I got Jerry to join because he played the drums. We always stayed friends and Barb and I were so fortunate to meet him and Pat for breakfast at Perkins in Lakeville, MN not too long before his passing.

Jerry was a great guy. I got to know Jerry as he had worked on some of our company brochures. We had played some golf at his club, Barrington Shores, and always enjoyed his company. He will be sorely missed. My condolences to his wife and family.

A bright light has been extinguished in our world and we will greatly miss his presence. Having worked at CF in recent years with Jerry and Pat, I wish God's blessings on your family to quickly pass through the difficult days and forever remember the good times and love shared with Jerry. Pat Booth

We were very shocked and saddened to hear of Jerry's passing. I could only think of all the hours Jerry and I spent in the alley behind his house playing catch so that he could perfect his curveball. And all of our travels around the country every Summer with the Grenadiers. Barb and I are so thankful that we had the opportunity to visit with you both at Perkins in Minnesota last Summer. Jerry was a dear and good friend.

Svec Family - Words are not enough at how sad it is to have lost such a kind person. Just looking at his picture reminds me of all the kind things he told me through all my years. As someone stated earlier, he always encouraged and gave me more confidence. I will forever remember that. I will see you Friday! Thoughts are always with you! Love to all!

My heart and prayers are with you. Mr Svec was my favorite professor at CF. He was a great teacher and inspired us greatly. He had us think hard, study hard, and work as a team, but most of all he made us laugh.I will miss his talks in the breezway about my future, and his advice with much inspiration. May God bless you and keep you in these times of sorrow.

Ed and I were stunned to hear of Jerry's passing. He will always be remembered for his smiling face and humorous demeanor. We still speak fondly of the two of you graciously having us to your home to celebrate Ed's birthday on July 14 and serenading us with song.
May God take you under His wing consoling and supporting you during this sorrowful time.
Your friends, Georgia and Ed
