Jerry D. Crawford

1933 - 2017

CRAWFORD Jerry D. Crawford, age 83, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at the Hospice House in The Villages, FL. Jerry was born in Eureka, IL, joining the Navy in 1952 and serving proudly until 1956 on The U.S.S. Oriskany (CVA-34). He had several successful businesses that he owned and managed before his retirement. His profession took him and his wife to Jacksonville, FL in 1973 and their adventures in Florida began. Moving several times throughout their 45 year marriage, Wildwood, Florida became their final home. Jerry loved animals, he successfully raised tropical birds for many years, and partnered with his wife in showing dogs, traveling around the country in their motorhome. He is survived by his wife, Terrie Crawford; daughter Anita Reiss; sons Randall Crawford, William Crawford, Michael Crawford; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sister Luana Janssen, brother-in-law Ronald Janssen; brother Kenneth (Gene) Crawford, sister-in-law Joan Crawford; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gladys and Kenneth Crawford; and sister Susie Zook; and brother-in-law Marden Zook. A memorial service will be held at the Jacksonville National Cemetery located on 4083 Lannie Road on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 11:30 am. The family will receive friends following the service.
