I met Jerry when we were assigned as roommates at the Middlebury Summer Language School in 1961, he having just graduated from Yale and I from Brown. To attend one must sign the famous "word of honor" only to speak the language being studied on pain of expulsion. Dictionaries always at the ready, we struggled to communicate for about week, when late one we pulled a blanket over our heads and sat in the middle of the floor and got to know each other in whispered English. I met Jerry in September, 1956, on our first day at Yale. After moving to San Francisco in 1971, we saw each other sporadically at the Pacific-Union Club or the Bohemian Club. Having served on 20 non-profit boards, I always Jerry for his efforts in this area and regret we did not serve on a joint board.

In our minds, Jerry will always be with us. He made us all feel like the most special persons in the world. It is hard to forget someone who gave you so much to remember. Harry and Olivia Koukopoulos
