Jerry Romano Obituary
Jerry Frederick Romano, 83, of St. Simons Island, departed this life Monday, April 22, 2024, at his residence.
A celebration of life service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Wesley Church at Frederica, with Dr. Lucas Ramirez and the Rev. Scott Hearn officiating. Inurnment will be in the church columbarium.
Born Nov. 22, 1940, in New Orleans, to the late to the late Joseph Frederick and Mildred B. Romano, he was a restaurateur and owner of JR?s Loghouse, in Peachtree Corners. Mr. Romano had been a resident of St. Simons Island for 20 years and was a charter member of Wesley Church at Frederica. He was an avid golfer and reader. He was also a founding member of The Old Hickory House restaurant family.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Edna B. Romano of St. Simons Island; four children, Charis Willes of Palm Desert, California, Chana Phillips and husband, Gary, of Suwanee, Joseph Frederick Romano and wife, Gina, of Beverly Hills, California, and Amanda Marshall and husband, Andrew, of Brookhaven; and six grandchildren.

I worked for Jerry at JR's Loghouse in 1983. He taught me two things that I never forgot. He said it's never as bad as it looks, and when you feel sick, always try and go to work. Nine times out of ten you will fell better. I never forgot those things. He was a great man to work for.

Jerry was my boss all through high school in the seventies and beyond. He instilled a work ethic and professionalism in many of us treating us more like family. He helped many of us in our personal lives as well. His legacy lives on through all of us.
On our behalf much love is passed on to his family.

My husband George talked about how many wonderful memories he had through the years with Jerry. They worked together at the Old Hickory House, played golf, and enjoyed spending friend time telling jokes. I´m so glad we made a trip to see Jerry and Edna a few years ago. I know george and Jerry had a great reunion in heaven. Much love to Edna and all of Jerry´s family. Diane jackson
