Not sure what to say?

This past January I retired from the Legal Aid of Nebraska board of directors after spending 33 years on the board of LSSN, the Merger Board and Legal Aid of Nebraska. I do not believe I would have stayed without the influence of Jim when I first started on the board in 1988. His passion for helping Nebraskans who were in need of help served model which I tried to follow. At meetings he could say everything he wanted to say about some proposal with a roll of his eyes than any words could...

In our early years I was in scouts with Jim, and later on we attended Lincoln High at the same time. I would visit with Jim at NU basketball games, where I was on the event staff, working directly behind where Jim had seats. I will miss seeing Jim.

I had the honor to work for Jim as his legal assistant in the mid '80's when my family first moved to Lincoln from Dallas, Texas. Jim's exuberance for life was infectious. His big-hearted smile and laugh, ever present. He enjoyed teasing me about my Texas drawl and never missed the opportunity to ask me if I was "fixin" to do something. I learned what "real" snow was from Jim. Coming from Texas, where life came to a full stop when it snowed even a couple of inches, I called Jim during the...

My deepest sympathies to Karen, their daughters & grandchildren as they all navigate this most difficult time in their lives ... I wish them only ongoing peace & serenity!! I had the pleasure of being introduced to Jim Gordon @ my very first Juvenile Ct hearing, as a CPS Case Manager back in 1992 ... @ which time, he "delighted" in explaining to me that I shouldn't take how he was about to treat me personally since he was one of my parents' attorneys @ this time because the next time...

It was my privilege to serve as member of the Board of Directors of Legal Services of Southeast Nebraska for with Jim for 12 years. I learned a great deal from him (most of which was good!) during those years. Jim was one of the most caring individuals I have ever been around. No matter what, he always had a smile on his face and made the task at hand seem doable.

I had the pleasure of working with Jim during the first 4 years of my practice of law in the mid-80's. Jim was my mentor and friend as I learned the ends and outs of the Lancaster County courts. Jim was always supportive of my efforts not to screw up. I was fortunate to stay in contact with Jim over the years. His bright smile and charming wit were always a welcomed highlight on those occasions. Jim was an asset to the Lincoln and Nebraska bar. He made a positive difference for may of...

My condolences to Jim's family, his many friends, and colleagues. Jim was a kind, caring, and compassionate man who treated everyone with dignity and respect. I always enjoyed seeing him at various events/activities/gatherings... he always greeted me with a firm handshake and a big smile. I appreciated his sense of humor and our conversations.. short but substantive and relevant...politics, Viet Nam, life. Jim will be missed... he was a truly good man.

Although long absent from a seldom-visited hometown, I had an inexplicable ability, whenever back in Lincoln, to cross paths with Jim Gordon, who had once practiced law in the same firm as my late brother. Talking with Jim (and on one occasion with Karen as well) always reminded me of how much his wonderful approach to daily life paralleled that of my brother Ron. This marvelous obituary captures Jim's spirit so very nicely. My condolences to Jim's family. May His Memory Be a Blessing.

Karen....you don´t know me but I´ve always admired you since your TV days. Dave & I both thought the world of Jim and, of course, his very special mom. Please know you have many who care......
