Jim and I were classmates in the Architectural program at the University of Kansas. As I remember, he had an individual presence about him with his sandals and quiet manner. When we had a design project due, it was nothing to spend all night at our drafting table. Some of the empty ones served as our bed to catch a quick nap. Doing these times, Jim would bring his guitar and serenade us which helped us keep our eyes open. I lost track of him after graduation but was on a cross country...

I am saddened to have learned (just a few days ago) of Jim’s passing 2 years ago. It was about 5 yrs prior to that when I corresponded with Jim. I had asked him for his autographed picture. He sent me such along w a personal note which I thought was way cool of him. I have been a huge fan of his since Chopper One. And the fact that he was a fellow Long Islander was awesome as well. He is sure to be missed by many. RIP

What a multi-talented guy, I remember him well on TV. Reading how much he accomplished was amazing. My mother-n-law passed away from ALS also. Life isn't fair. RIP and my prayers are for you and your lovely family.

I read about Jim's passing in the October, 2019 edition of Kansas Alumni magazine. I was a classmate of Jim's, working on getting my degree at the KU School of Architecture, and graduating in 1960. I remember the nights in Marvin Hall, where the students struggled to meet deadlines with projects prepared by the design professors. Jim and I went our separate ways, and the only time I saw him again was in the movies. I could tell he was a great actor and put his talents to good use. May he...

Dear Helene, I was so shocked and saddened to hear about Jim, I was so looking forward to seeing you both again this summer in Island Heights. My memories of him will always be fond ones. From recording voiceovers in my home studio, to just 'shooting the breeze' with him every summer. I know he is being well taken care of now at the hands of our father in heaven. Hope to catch up with you soon.
