Happy New Year, Jimbo. Steffy and Frank came into town and we celebrated downtown and a good time was had. The only way to improve upon the evening would be to have you with us, like always. We had a birthday party for Mom and I fixed one of her favorites, tacos, and had a large German chocolate cake. Give Dad a big hug for me on Thursday and tell him we miss him and will be thinking of him. Bubba and Champagne came to live with us last June when Mom went into rehab after breaking her hip. Then last month, Bubba died and is in a shady spot in our orchard. Champagne misses him terribly so we let her sleep with us now (Cache and Oso approved). With all the political upheaval, 2017 is sure to be rocky and it is more important than ever for you to watch over us. You have always been my guiding light and the best brother ever.

Mom and I celebrated your birthday and toasted to you. We wrote a message but we could not submit it for some reason. So belated Happy Birthday. I miss your love, advice, laughter and sneaking out and going for our drives, just you and me. I am sure you and Dad had a great reunion with Dick and Georgia. Keep visiting me, I can't begin to tell you how much it means to me. Gordon, Cache and Oso send their love.

May 12, 2015
To the world, May 12 is just an ordinary day, but to all those that love you, it's the day a little baby boy was born just breaking five pounds, no hair and crying out saying, "I'm Jimbo, your older brother, son, dad, best friend and nicest person you will ever meet". Happy Birthday and I hope German Chocolate cake is on the menu with 64 candles. We miss you greatly and always will. Janie

Merry Christmas, Jimbo. Gordon made Ramos Fizzes just the way you taught him and they were delicious, then we opened presents and had dinner at Ruth Chris. Every other minute, thoughts of you went through my head and I knew you and Dad must be there with us. We all love and miss you so much.

Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you. Was there a big celebration up there for you and T. J.? May 12 just isn't the same without Jimbo. Oh, how you are missed. I miss your personality, I miss your smile, I miss your silliness, I miss the way you went out of your way to make my days better when they're down, I miss the laughs that we had, I even miss the silly fights that we had on a few occasions,I miss our Scrabble games and you whipping my but, I miss going for rides in your cars, I miss my role model, my hero in life. Mom's problems are escalating and I need to talk with my big brother, he will know what to do. I feel so sorry for her and know how frustrating it is for her. Please help me to help her. I had a dream not to long ago. We were at ESCO and I can't recall what we were doing, but whatever it was we were doing it together. Mom and dad was also in it and everyone was young. I love you.

Here it is another Sunday....They r always sad 4 me, now. It's been 19 Sundays since u died. I still think about u every day. I have so much regret Daddy. I wish I would've done more 4 u, when u were sick. I wish, I would've spent more time w/u when I was younger. I wish, I would've treated ur daily calls as something precious. I would give anything 4 a call from u now. I saved all ur voicemails on my ph. I've only listened 2 them once. It breaks my heart 2 much 2 listen 2 them again. I will save them 4 when I'm stronger. I hope u know, how much I love u Daddy!

I'm feeling really sad about closing your company. You continued the legend of Engineered Sales that your dad started in 1960. Wednesday the 23rd of October 2013 is our last day. I'm sure you have been watching and been sad too. Hasn't been/couldn't be the same without you Jim.
We will never forget you.

Jan/Jeanne (Mrs. Thomas)/Terri,
I am so sorry to hear that Jim passed away. He will be sorely missed. I knew Jim from the time I was 13 years old when I became the “adopted daughter” at the Thomas household. At that age, I think he mostly tried to ignore the little sister and her friend. I remember he was always working on his race cars, going to the races or cruising Central. I vividly remember his racy Ford Maverick!! And, I remember him taking care of the pigeons in the backyard on Keim Drive and Nick, the Dog. I also recall him dating a few of our girlfriends. I was always hanging out with Jan and kind of shy and he was busy with his friends and activities. As we grew older that remained true, but I always loved Jim and noticed his sincere niceness. He was just nice to everyone and I've always admired that about him. Not only was he a great guy, but a great Dad, Grandfather and businessman.
I wish there were words I could say to ease the pain. I know you all have lovely memories of him and I hope that will give you some comfort until you see him again in Heaven. I know one thing, there was no one more important to him than his family, his loving mother, father, sister, brother-in-law, daughter, and grandchildren. Our love and support will always be here for you. Love, Steffy and Frank

Good Afternoon, and thank you for joining Jim's Family and friends today ..
As I was preparing myself to write down my thoughts about my Best Friend I was at first torn between an ear to ear smile or a torrent of tears as my thoughts raced about the 42 years Jim and I have been best friends .. Should I ask for you to morn with me or should I suggest you celebrate with me the life of Jim Thomas .. It's best decided by each of you friends and family alike .. Everyone of you saw This special man differently .. some may have known him as a business man .. some may have shared Jim's passion for his favorite hobbies, sports, ASU .. 4 special people knew him as Papa .. I knew him up close and very personal.
Jim and I were introduced to each other by a mutual friend .. Brian Mulvey .. it was May 1971 and the world was turning at a slower place .. young men met nightly at Central Avenue to talk about girls, cars, school just as young men today would call Hanging Out .. We called it cruising .. Jim was 20 then with longish blonde hair, Levi 501's .. Adidias track shoes .. tea shirts of different colors with pockets were the appropriate attire and of course his infectious smile and laugh .. the cars .. Mustangs, Camaros, GTO's, Corvettes, Shoebox 55 .. 56 .. 57 Chevys, Bob's Big Boy, McDonalds the Phoenix Library, Dairy Queen & Orange Julius were what we drove and where we congregated. Somehow May 1971 found me sitting shotgun in a 1970 white Ford Maverick that was Jim's ride .. It looked fast .. Jacked up in the front and rear with mag wheels and glass pack mufflers.. it sounded fast but alas it only had a 6 cylinder 170 cubic inch engine with about 80 horse power .. Undeterred Jim drove it as if it was a rocket about to ignite with flames trailing behind.. But he had a vision.. We were before summer ended going to transform the Maverick into a beast … he bought a ford V8 .. a 4 speed transmission and racing cam, pistons the whole works .. and he convinced my brother and I to help him put this all together .. at my parents home in my Dads parking spot because he had to keep it a secret from Jean and Duane .. Mom and Dad would not have approved. That was how we started 42 years ago and I won't get another opportunity to tell this story unless his grandchildren ask me about Papa when he was young and without a care .. so that is the beginning .. Jim brought me into his family as I did him with mine .. he was My Best Man .. he is my sons Godfather .. In 42 years of brotherhood and friendship we had cross words but one time .. we lived together for almost 6 years .. we laughed hard and long .. we spoke of love and those we loved .. My children call him Uncle Jim .. you call him Son, Brother, Husband, Father and Papa .. I call him my friend.. my best friend ..
Most people knew Jim Thomas as Engineered Sales Company, His Father Duane started the business and groomed Jim to take control .. and take control he did .. taking the company to where it is today .. Jim had all Duane's skills plus that special something that took it over the top .. Jim was so proud of what his family built together .. as most of you know Jim was very competitive .. actually that is an understatement .. Jim hated losing at anything be it a engineering bid or an RC Car race. It would drive him .. that spirit .. the will to succeed .. He loved his work so much .. weeks ago at the office after his last surgery he told me work made him stronger .. he loved Engineered Sales Company.
It is said that you leave the best for last.. The Best for Jim was Family.. His Mother.. Father.. Sister.. Daughter and his 4 beautiful Grandchildren were his strength his backbone.. Gordon and Kyle.. his brother and son .. he was whole when he was with you .. and he will watch you all from above .. Every day .. you are the love of his life .. he will be with you always in memories and prayers.
God Bless you Jim Thomas, God Bless you all.
Please join the family after the ceremony and tell us if you'd like about your times with Jim

Jim's sister, Jeannette, is my best friend and has been for 17 years. Although I didn't spend much time with Jim, only during the Thanksgiving holiday, when he and Omie came to California. I always looked forward to seeing and talking with him. He had a way of making me feel like family and I will never forget that! I always felt like it was never enough time. I got to know him more through Jeannette's words; but, I wished I could have gotten to know better personally. He had such a big heart! His love for his family and his dogs was so evident, he wore his heart on his sleeve. I love you Jim and I will miss you very much.

Jeanne,Terri & Engineered Sales family,
I was very sorry to hear of Jim's passing and wish to send you my condolences. Jim and I had spoken to each other this and most years, on our birthdays, May 12th and 11th and we updated each other on our family loved ones, our pugs and our business dealings. Jim's heart was even bigger than his truck and he always treated everyone with respect and was always professional in his business transactions. Jim said: Take care my friend, and now I say to Jimbo, Take care my friend until we meet again.
Heartfelt Sympathy,
George

I've only known Jim for a few years through racing rc cars. But in that short time, we became good friends & was always great to see him. A really nice character. He would greet me with a genuinely friendly handshake, & say something like; "Hey Brodie, what you know?"
Very sad to see him go. He's a legend, & I'll always remember him as an all around great guy.
Rip mate.

I knew Jim for about 30 years. We worked together for the last 20 years-most importantly he was my friend. He called me Mom2-partly a joke but mostly true. I tried to help Jeanne watch over him but he was a very independent man. He was happy with his life until the last year. Everyone he met was his friend. He valued his family above everything. I will miss him forever.

I first met Jim in 1986 when I purchased a company that sold products that competed with Jim's products. He sold Capital Controls chlorinators and I sold Wallace & Tiernan chlorinators. After 35 years in this business I have realized that there are “good” competitors and “bad” competitors. Without a doubt, Jim was one of the good guys. All my interactions with Jim were on a business level, but for many years I kept thinking that it would be good to call Jim and arrange to meet over lunch some day. Sadly, I never made that call. I now know that I have missed an opportunity to add a bright spot to my life by failing to get to know Jim better. I was glad to hear at the service that he had accepted Christ as his savior. It was the best decision that he ever made.

Terri, I am so saddened over the timing of your dads passing. I send my love to you and your mom and the entire Thomas family. Jim treated me like family from the first time we met and I always enjoyed seeing him over the years.
