I don't think there was a better place to play tennis in the early 1990s than in Doc Horne's complex. My sister and I became better players and better people through Doc and the community. I lost many matches there but I won a lot more in life through our lessons. I will always be grateful.

I extend my condolences to the family of Jimmie Horne, Sr. He was a great inspiration to me, and he taught me much about tennis. Not only did he expose area children to tennis, but he gave lessons to me and my fellow seniors at Cypress Lakes. I will always remember two of his comments: "Tennis is a gentleman's game." and "In tennis, your movements must be beautiful."
I and my friends will truly miss him.
