1930-2015
Joan Gilford Barr, age 85, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 3, 2015 after complications from hip surgery. Joan devoted her life to her husband of 61 years, Norbert Barr, her children, and her grandchildren. She always had a listening ear and bright smile for all. Joan and Norbert loved traveling with their RV and visited destinations throughout the United States and Canada. Joan loved reading, music, shopping, and played the organ beautifully. Joan was preceded in death by her daughter, Adrienne Lynn Barr. She is survived by her husband Norbert Barr; daughter, Gretchen Kramberger and husband Jack; grandchildren, Joni and Michael Sablatura, and Brock and Roman Vargas; and 6 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, with a Graveside Service at 2:00 p.m. at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery. A catered gathering will follow at Earthman Resthaven Hospitality Room. The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Windsor Quail Valley Post-Acute Healthcare for all the love and care given to Joan during the past several months. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity.

My deepest condolences to Norb and the family. My father, Victor Romero, is a resident at the Windsor Nursing Home and while Joan was there, she and Norb joined my dad for most of his daily meals, keeping him company. Joan will be missed she was a very sweet lady and I'll miss my conversations with Joan and Norb.

One of the nicest people I have ever met. No matter where or how long it had been since I saw her last her smile for me was always the same. Genuine , sincere to the point where I knew she was happy to see me. I will miss her and gain comfort in knowing that someday I will see her again.
