Joan Curtin Obituary

CURTIN, Joan L. (Powers) Age 79, of Pocasset and Sarasota, FL, formerly of Stoneham and Onset, died Tuesday June 15, 2010 at Mary McCarthy Hospice House in Sandwich. Born in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Ida (Mooney) Powers. She was a graduate of Notre Dame Academy in Boston, class of 1948 and Emmanuel College, class of 1952. She taught at St. Patrick's School in Stoneham and also in the Stoneham Public School System until her retirement in 1986. She is survived by her husband of 58 years Richard A. Curtin and her children: Diane Curtin Yarrington of Sarasota, FL and Onset, MA, Richard J. Curtin of Billerica, MA, Paul G. Curtin of Londonderry, NH and Leslie Curtin Cammarano of Marion, MA., 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter Janet Curtin Mulhern and a sister Lorraine Powers. Visitation will be from 4-8pm Thursday at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd., Bourne. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Friday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Shore Rd., Pocasset, followed by burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
