Not sure what to say?

A memory……
Recently, I was up quite late marking essays. I remembered Joan saying to me so many times, "Girl, I was / will be up all night. I have so many essays to mark." It's touching to see warm comments from her students. I'm sure Joan will be very pleased; they meant so much to her.
"Gentle," "sparkling," "kind," "inspiring," "beautiful soul," have been written here to describe Joan. Those words, and many others we can think of, beautifully sum up the person we have all...

Joan was my History teacher at the University of Wpg Collegiate in the early eighties, her kindness and beautiful smile made my days always brighter, I will always remember her as a kind, bright and beautiful mind.

Our condolences go out to the whole family. We are so sorry for your loss.

Joan was a beautiful woman with a lovely soul, with eyes and words that sparkled.

She taught us invaluable lessons in class, but it is the ones she gave me outside of them that I've never been able to forget. There are 2 particular pieces of advice she happened to pass on to me that have never stopped popping up in my head since our last talks 6 years ago:

1) "Wash your lettuce. Wash it!"

2) "Be aware of reality." It was my last year of high school and I thought of...

Leslie and Family/The Hewitt Family:

Sending you my heartfelt condolences May loving memories sustain you with peace and confort in the days ahead.

Flora Alexis (Ottawa, ON)

I only knew Joan through my long and close friendship with her youngest sister, Dale. She was always kind, welcoming and made me feel part of the family. She will be fondly remembered.

Joan was someone I have always admired. She had so much class and charisma, great sense of humour and full of wisdom. She was young at heart no matter what age and I will miss her dearly.

Ms. Hinkson was such a great teacher as well as a lovely person. I am so lucky I had the opportunity of being her student. My deepest condolences goes out to her family. She will be missed.

Being in your classroom completely changed my life - you gave me the confidence I needed to succeed and to improve, and you were always ready to provide support and counsel with a smile on your face. Thank you for being a part of my life - I feel honoured to have known you.
Lots of love,
Chris
