Not sure what to say?

Just tonight I was informed about Joan's passing. I am still so shocked and saddened. Joan and Carol were my next door neighbors and childhood friends from grade through high school until our respective lives took us to distant places. I thought of Joan on May 12 thinking of her celebrating her birthday. I feel so sad Joan is gone.

Joan was a remarkable woman, smart, creative, faithful, very religious, popular and a wonderful role model. Joan lived her life in a way that emulated...

Joan and I have celebrated birthdays together, along with so many other things over the many years of our friendship. This year was a tough one, sharing our celebration from afar, but I take comfort in the fact that, like my mother who died the day before her birthday, Joan was able to celebrate this special day with the Lord.

I will miss Joan very much, and will always remember her infectious smile, her love for her children and grandchildren, and the four-hour lunches where we shared...

God has now been blessed to have Joan with him. My prayers and love go out to the family. She will be missed.

Joan is in a better place now and I know she is already watching over us. I fondly remember being included (briefly) in a few telephone conversations with Joan in the early 1950's. Love to all, Mike

Just yesterday I found a news clipping from October 31, 1975 - Joan had asked Peter Citron to cook and serve lunch to eight women in honor of a National Women's Strike - I remember the occasion fondly, all of us gather ed at her table sharing our strength. Not only did Joan exhibit her trade mark courage in a gentle manner, but also her sense of humor in organizing that day. I had a note with the article ready to put in the mail....but now Joan is enjoying herself fully at the table of pure...
