Just tonight I was informed about Joan's passing. I am still so shocked and saddened. Joan and Carol were my next door neighbors and childhood friends from grade through high school until our respective lives took us to distant places. I thought of Joan on May 12 thinking of her celebrating her birthday. I feel so sad Joan is gone.
Joan was a remarkable woman, smart, creative, faithful, very religious, popular and a wonderful role model. Joan lived her life in a way that emulated love of family, friends and a true caring of others.
My prayers are sent to Joan's children and grandchildren, Mr. B, Joan and Carol's wonderful father, and to Carol and Mike and their family.
May your soul rest in peace old friend.

Joan and I have celebrated birthdays together, along with so many other things over the many years of our friendship. This year was a tough one, sharing our celebration from afar, but I take comfort in the fact that, like my mother who died the day before her birthday, Joan was able to celebrate this special day with the Lord.
I will miss Joan very much, and will always remember her infectious smile, her love for her children and grandchildren, and the four-hour lunches where we shared our lives with "Grandma's Ladies."
My thougts and prayers are with the family, especially Joan's daughters as you grieve the loss of your mother. Anytime you need anything you have only to ask. I would consider it an honor to serve my friend's children.

Joan is in a better place now and I know she is already watching over us. I fondly remember being included (briefly) in a few telephone conversations with Joan in the early 1950's. Love to all, Mike

Just yesterday I found a news clipping from October 31, 1975 - Joan had asked Peter Citron to cook and serve lunch to eight women in honor of a National Women's Strike - I remember the occasion fondly, all of us gather ed at her table sharing our strength. Not only did Joan exhibit her trade mark courage in a gentle manner, but also her sense of humor in organizing that day. I had a note with the article ready to put in the mail....but now Joan is enjoying herself fully at the table of pure light. Ann
