VERSAILLES - Joan B. Magoto, 80 of Versailles, Ohio, passed away on Friday November 26, 2021 at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. She was born July 3, 1941 in Tallahassee, Florida, the daughter of the late Bryant and Lorene (Grizzard) Welker. She was a nurse for many years at Family Health and the Brethren's Retirement Community; she had also worked at Frenchie's Restaurant, and along with her husband owned and operated Rustic Hill Market.
She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church; she loved reading, sewing, quilting, vegetable gardening and canning, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband: John Lewis Magoto on September 18, 2015 whom she married February 24, 1959; her sons: Joseph Lee Magoto, and Wayne Magoto; her grandsons: Matthew Smith, and Scott Magoto; her brother: Melvin Welker, sister in law and brother in law: Johanna (Magoto) and Gene Brown; and her brother in law: Al Acuna.
She is survived by her children & spouses: Deb Smith and Fiancée James Webb of Greenville, Diana and James Subler of Versailles, Sharon and Daniel Jones of Union City, Indiana, Bruce and Tammy Magoto of Versailles; grandchildren: Brian Smith, Jarrid Smith, Dana Smith, Lucas (Courtney) Subler, Lauren (Lucas) Moeller, Kevin (Danielle) Jones, Ashley Jones and Fiancée Zack Eastman, Kyle (Taylor) Jones, Jessica Williams, Adam (Stacy) Magoto, Timothy (Vanessa) Magoto, Michael (Kassie) Dabe, Krista (Kurtis) Halley; numerous great and great great grandchildren; her siblings: Judith and Dean Devers, Sandra and Wayne Gulledge, Bryant Welker Jr., Cathy Acuna; her in laws: Kenneth and Dianna Magoto, Marilyn and Larry Smith, Myrna and Larry Rue, Sarah Magoto, and Robert and Diane Magoto; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday December 3, 2021 at 10:30 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, Frenchtown, Ohio with Rev. Fr. Jim Duell Celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday December 2, 2021 and from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM on Friday at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Versailles Area Emergency Services or Cancer Association of Darke County. Condolences for the family may be expressed through www.zecharbailey.com
