Not sure what to say?

I first met Joan about 5 years ago when she came into my HSU OLLI Tai Chi class as an eager student. It wasn't long, however, before the roles reversed somewhat, and she became my teacher, and I the student..... the student of how to live a life gracefully, bravely, and with strength, humor, and love. She was a living example of all of that and more, and I soon became a "fan" of Joan Pierson, simply out of observing how she conducted herself, in the classroom, and in life in general. She...

I was a student of Joan's at Humboldt in the late 70's. She has always had a special place in my heart. Even though we have not kept in contact, I thought of her often. My prayers are with the family

I,too, was a student of Joan's in the early 70's. I am grateful that our friendship continued all these years. She was a loving and inspiring woman. The many tributes on this page attest to her delightful personality. My heartfelt condolences to the family.

My dad, Dave Coe, and his sisters loved to tell us stories about the adventures they had with their cousins, Jean, Joan and Janet, when they were children. Though I didn't get to see them much when I was growing up, I felt like I knew them well from those stories. I was so happy that Joan was able to attend the Wiest reunion in 2007 and thoroughly enjoyed getting to know her again. She was an amazing person!

I am so glad I got to be a part of Joan's life. She was a truly amazing person.

Josh,
I am so sorry to hear of your grandmother's passing. I know she was very special to you. My prayers go out to you and your family.

Through you I met my late wife of 58 years.

Each of the previous entries "hit the nail on the head". As a former student, I shall always be grateful for Joan's guidance and example. I am proud to call her "friend". She is indeed a "portrait of a lady".
