DOHERTY FUNERAL SERVICE Obituary

Joanne C. (Biddiscombe) Carson--71, A 20-year resident of Medford, formerly of Cambridge, died after a long illness on November 3, 2013.

Joanne was the beloved wife of the late Louis W. ?Sonny? Carson and the loving mother of Lisa Carson and her companion Shawn Piper, Louis W. Carson and his wife Toni (co-pilot) all of Medford. She was the sister of Olive Irene Meeh of CA, Donald Biddiscombe of NH and the late Phyllis Vasta. Joanne was also the dear grandmother of Louis Anthony Piper Carson.

The funeral procession will be held from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq) in Somerville, Thursday morning, November 7, 2013, at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Service in Grace Episcopal Church in Medford at 10 o'clock. Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 6, from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.

Prior to her retirement, Joanne was an employee Harvard University for 27 years. She was a member of SEIU Union, Local 615. Joanne was also an involved member of Grace Episcopal Church in Medford.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joanne?s memory to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.

Lisa & Louis, I don't know if you remember me but i use to live right across the street from your Mom and Dad on Winter Street in Cambridge you two were little then, I am Danny's Daughter Cindy!! I sure am sorry to hear of your Mom and Dads passing, they were good People. My thoughts and Prayers are with you both.

I just found out about this. I am heartbroken for you Lisa and Louie. I loved your Mother so much. She was my Mothers best friend and she felt like an Aunt to me. I am so deeply sorry for your loss. She was a wonderful woman through and through. May God bless both of you during this difficult time.

Dear Lisa and Louie,

I feel like I've known you both all of Louie's life, because Joanne was such a dear friend to me and such a doting grandmother. My own son was about the same age and I feel like they grew up together, because Joanne and I shared so many stories.

She has been greatly missed around here since she left Harvard, and I send you my most heartfelt condolences. Know that we all loved her dearly.
