Joanne Marie Casey

I met Joanne at the Ridgefield Thrift store. She worked on the stool next to mine and we had pet names for each other! She called me Betsey and I referred to her as Chatty Cathy! It was such fun, and often other volunteers could not figure out why we were calling each other by wrong names! She will be greatly missed but her wonderful memories will live on! I met Joanne in Brandermill, a planned community in the Richmond, VA area. She was the first person to ring our doorbell and welcome me to the neighborhood. With Joanne, she made you feel like you´ve known her forever even though we had just met. She sat on our back staircase and shared the scoop of the neighborhood. Joanne Casey was the best grandmother a kid could ever ask for. She always made sure to show her grandchildren that she loved them whether it was by giving gifts or candy or hugs we always knew. Even in her last few years when she struggled with dementia she remembered to watch her grandchild's college games and text him every time. She was the sweetest most kind hearted woman I have ever know and she will be loved and missed eternally by everyone she knew, and especially her grandson.
