Dear Ellen and Lee, I was very saddened to hear of your dad's passing, and am sorry to say that this is when I heard of the loss of your mom, as well. Ellen, I knew you only briefly, as my husband and I moved to Asheville in 1979 and have lost touch with many in Charlotte other than our families. I wanted to tell you that I am sorry to hear about Joe,I enjoyed getting to know him and could see what a special man he was.We had a lot of laughs and he always appreciated everything someone tried to do for him.I hope you are able to remember the good times.

Dearest Ellen and Lee, My memories of Uncle Joe Lee are some of the earliest in my life, and also some of the very fondest. Ellen I don't know if you remember be, Robin (Freeman) Owensby, but I thought so much of you and your family. I enjoyed coming to your house and staying the night.
