Dear Ellen and Lee, I was very saddened to hear of your dad's passing, and am sorry to say that this is when I heard of the loss of your mom, as well. Ellen, I knew you only briefly, as my husband and I moved to Asheville in 1979 and have lost touch with many in Charlotte other than our families. I worked at your dad's shop during the summer after high school and very much enjoyed his company. Of course, your mom and mine were the closest of friends throughout both of their lives until my mom moved away. Blanche, my mom, also suffered from Alzheimer's.

My thoughts and prayers are with you both as we all enter another passage of our lives. We wish you peace in the memories you have of your dad.

Dearest Ellen and Lee, My memories of Uncle Joe Lee are some of the earliest in my life, and also some of the very fondest. As children we were always enthusiastic about a drive to see Aunt Jean and Uncle Joe Lee. I remember my first barbeque in your back yard, and I remember when each of you were born! imagine that. I have so many warm and happy memories with our cousins at your home, especially the time Harry, Steve, Bic and I tried to track a horse and rider thru all those acres that used to be undeveloped out there. Uncle Joe Lee had a ready smile, a funny joke and an open heart for all. I am so sorry for your loss, and wish we could dig out from the snow to be there for you today -- we haven't been out of the drive since Christmas Eve. I would have called you sooner, but Mom just told me your sad news this morning. Andy & I are sending you hugs and love today and every day. Our love, Marti
