Absolutely one of the best teachers I had at Ventura High. So warm, so funny, so genuinely interested in his students. I think about him often and with great fondness.

My sincerest sympathy to entire family. I first met Joe when I joined St. Vincent de Paul at Sacred Heart many years ago. Joe was always very nice and friendly, a gentle man. God Bless you all.

I was blessed to have Mr. Ellis for a teacher at VHS. He was a patient and longsuffering man with a class whose members overthrew Ex King Ellis every Friday and carried on the business of our make-believe country. I so clearly remember his pronouncement every Thursday that there would be no party on Friday, but when the goodies inevitably showed up the next day, he would enjoy them too. To his family, I pray for your comfort in this loss and fond memories in the midst of your sorrow.
