joe and i became friends through the old mens fastpitch softball leagues. not only was Joe and his team a fixture for some 30 years but joe and a very few others took it on themselves to preserve the sport when it was obviously dying. i will always appreciate this.
and although joe could drive you crazy in the protection of his teams rights, (crossing the white lines) there was never, ever any doubt of his love of sport in general and it was there he and i bonded.
