I was a former student and then colleague of Joel's at the Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco. Soft spoken, a great listener and very empathetic, he served as a role model for us students and his colleagues. My sincere condolences to Sara and his family.

I knew Joel when he worked at UOP School of Dentistry where I still am employed. I always enjoyed chatting with him and will remember his easy laugh and kind manner. I will share the sad news of his passing with others here at the school and with the alumni who will remember him. Condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.
