Joel was my mentor when I was a newly hired equipment leasing employee with no experience. It just was serendipitous that we were in a meeting representing opposite sides and he saw me floundering around. We worked together on many leasing deals, became friends, shared life experiences and saw each other through deeply tough times. This is such sad news that I am just discovering. Joel and I worked together in the equipment leasing realm, were neighbors in NYC and enjoyed running together in Central Park. After he remarried and moved to Chapel Hill, I spent several visits staying with Donna and Joel. He was in his element cooking and enjoying his retirement.
