Not sure what to say?

Very missed, such a great man and teacher.

I am so sad to find this obituary. I was recently reminded that if someone made a difference in your life you should let them know. I'm too late for that but not too late to tell his family that I considered him a wonderful teacher. He was wonderful to all of us. Smiling now, I just remembered he actually let me and another student leave class to go get gas for my car! Why I needed to I don't remember, but I remember being very grateful that he understood. Dear Carol, Joel, and Jessica,
We were very saddened today when we received the news of Joel's passing.
Sending all our prayers and love to you and his brothers and their families. So many great memories of our past summers at our grandparents home come to mind and we will cherish them always. love, Fran and Dave and family

Mr. Java and my Dad had a great relationship, both being LCHS faculty members. I remember them hanging out together occasionally. Great memories from school days and the genuine concern Mr. Java had for his students and faculty members.

I shared many enjoyable moments with Joel in the 30 years we spent on the faculty at LHS. Our prayers extend to the Java family.

My prayers and thoughts are with the Java Family. I remember his daily smile.

Carol, Joel, and Jessica -- you're in my thoughts. I have fond memories from high school of Mr. Java and your whole family.

I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Java. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Now he and my Dad can referee the football games up in heaven together. Perhaps between the 2 of them, the Bills can start winning again.

Joel, a great friend from School Street School to graduation from LHS. My thoughts and prayers are with your entire family.
