Joel... I will miss you. Shocked and very sad. I will remember growing up in the same neighborhood and playing tennis with you in high school....Teasing you, cause you were so shy and sweet. I called you Noel just to be funny. I will miss you , Noel. God Bless your family.

We cannot even begin to imagine what you guys are going through right now but we wanted to let you know that you are in our prayers.

To the entire Smith family, I just learned of your loss and thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I'm proud to have been a classmate and "neighbor" of Joel. May your memories bring you peace.

To my friend and teammate, thank you for sharing many laughs and for making me a tougher wrestler. Whatever success I had on the mat, I owe much of it to you. May lasting peace find your soul.

My heart aches to hear of Joel's passing. In school he was always a quiet guy with a warm heart. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him. My heart goes out to his family.
