Tony Battelle, also of Blair's class of 1957 and 1958. RIP John. You and my brother Nick, class of 1960, dec. July 2012, had good times together in NYC as he was completing his MBA, also at Columbia University. You were among the many unique and talented individuals that made up the Class of 1958, and with whom I hope to reunite come June. We will be thinking of you and your memorable contribution to that uniqueness.

It was a pleasure and an honor to know John. I am particularly grateful for he and Deb bringing Jen and Charles into the world. My deepest sympathies to all who got to know and love him and will justifiably miss him.

My brother from another mother gave me joy, comfort, wisdom and, above all, a zany take on life that brightened my soul. Even in his dark times, he had kindness and love to share generously. He will always be my friend; he gave me advice, often when I didn't need it, and showed his compassion when necessary. We enjoyed some wild times together, and to this day wonder how we survived. Yes I will miss our periodic phone conversations. Hope he is resting without pain. And the best to his family.

I love you, Dad. And yes, as I promised I would, I caught your giant orange cat Rufous and wrangled him into my home where he is thriving. You shepherded and protected so many for so long; we all miss you, but you may finally rest in peace.

Hello Applegate Family,
We got to know John fairly well over the years and really enjoyed him as a patient. We used to see him often when he lived in Forestville. We were honored that he wanted us to continue to care for him after he moved to Healdsburg.I talked with him many times about medicine, politics and big business. He did not like big banks a sentiment that is easy to understand.I will miss his common sense approach to life and his loyalty. Please accept our deepest condolences.mark...
