Jim and I knew John from 4:30 mass. Jim and John, also, counted money together. They were ushers too. John came to our house several times. The day he passed he probably had in his mail box a personalized written Christmas card from us .He was a good man and friend. Rest in peacs.

John helped my husband Paul through a tough time in his life, and had a tremendous impact on our family ever since we were introduced through Steve at the house in 2004. I so enjoyed his sense of humor, his sincere interest and concern for us, and his welcoming smile. I had several opportunities to have some great "interviews" with him about his growing up years and his career, and even about advice in the success of his marriage. He attributed all his success to his wife, Marian, who he said was the one who got him to see the importance of being organized , among other praises of her. He was so proud of his family, and I always heard him talk of Carol Anne with a gleam in his eyes like she was 'daddy's little girl' that she would always be to him. Even though it is a temporary separation, it still hurts, and I extend my love and condolences to you all and pray for God to comfort you and help you through this time. As my husband Paul said "He (John) solved the great mystery"!

John Bailey interviewed and hired so many of us college seniors as aspiring teachers in 1972----I was one of the lucky ones to call Catonsville High School my home along with many life-long friends who still share that nervous chat memory with him. Everlasting thanks for placing all of us in the same school----he truly understood a good mix of newbies ! Eighteen first-year teachers in total that September!

I met John, aka Mr. Bailey or Mr. B, when he and his wife Marion moved two doors down from us in Loch Raven Village and I was about 8 years old. Our families remained very close over the years, even after they moved to Perry Hall. He was a true source of strength for me especially when my dad, Jake Hughes, was dying; and he was one of the pallbearers at the graveside service. I also have fond memories of him visiting me when he stopped in at the School of the Cathedral in his capacity as mentor for Loyola University students working as student teachers. He was nearly always smiling, even in the face of losing his wife and two of his sons far too soon...his faith in the Lord was his guidepost and he bore witness to that faith with everyone he encountered. Rest in peace, Mr. B!!

I knew John for approximately 3 or 4 years through the Seven Oaks St Center. He was a dear man who was also very sociable and enjoyed our small group from the gym with early dinners out at various local restaurants once a month or so. The last time I remember seeing John was in November of 2019 before I was planning to move to NC. Due to this pandemic, I'm sure everyone missed those shared times together.
I thought about him being isolated in his new apartment home in Oak Crest and again just days before his passing.
I think about John joining his wife and sons that preceded him in death. His Christian faith was obvious without offending anyone. May his soul be resting in the arms of his Savior. Sandy Bennett
