I first met John while I was a Scholl student on N. Dearborn St. in Chicago's Gold Coast neighborhood in the late 90's. He initially struck me as being extremely bright, yet very approachable, and encouraging of students. Eight years later, then serving my alma matter as a junior faculty at Scholl College (and now located in North Chicago), John continued to mentor, encourage, and push me. He led with a quiet confidence. We never talked for very long, or in any great depth, we never had to,...

Dr. Becker was one of the kindest, most sincere professors I ever had the pleasure of learning from. He was so patient with students and always found ways to explain the material and meet the student where they were in their learning process. My sincerest condolences to Dr. Becker´s family. Please know he made a huge impact on the lives of so many he taught over the years.

Dr. Becker was a beloved professor at Scholl College for about 40 years. If you went to Scholl College in 1980 or after, you probably had Dr. Becker for physiology. He was an amazing educator, mentor, and overall person who will be missed! When I joined the faculty at Scholl in 2015, he was so supportive of me as I transitioned into my new role. He loved his students and had such a passion for education. Thank you for being a great friend and mentor Dr. Becker.

Dr. Becker was such a gem for the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine! He was always engaging and dedicated to student learning. When I first joined Scholl College, I found him inviting and easy to talk to. He was always enthusiastic about sharing his knowledge, resources, and ways to help students fully immerse themselves in the academic program. We even found ourselves volunteering together during a university-sponsored clean up program. My condolences to his friends,...
