John Woldemars Blats

It is with great sadness that we must announce the passing of John Blats. John was born in Port Alberni where he spent most of his life. He was a very accomplished carpenter and loved music, he was an extremely skilled guitarist, and could also play many other instruments including his accordion. John spent the last several years living in Victoria, BC. He passed away in the early morning hours at Royal Jubilee hospital surrounded by family and loved ones. John is survived by his son, Dylan, daughters Karly and Monika, sisters Angelika Porter and Astrid Ball, nephew Ron Porter, neices, Star Porter, Jenni and Christie Leask, Uncle and Aunt, Lowell and Annemarie Carlson and their children, Stephan, Linda and Paul . A Memorial Service will be held at Chapel of Memories, 4005-6th Ave, Port Alberni on Saturday, November 16th at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Canadian Mental Health Association, BC Div. #1200-1111 Melville St. Vancouver, BC, V6E3V6.
