John Bloom will always be remembered as a man who provided steady guidance to those who worked for him. He was a leader in the truest sense of the word. He gave me a great sense of stability that I never fully appreciated until he retired. I will always remember John telling me about the time he met my father and we both had a good laugh at the encounter. John was a class act and Charles County will surely miss him. Joe Lavorgna

My deepest condolences go to Mr. Bloom's children. I will miss his infectious laugh and walking with him and Winston. He had such a fantastic memory that amazed me and was grateful for his friendship. I mentioned to him a few years ago about coconut oil benefits and he told me that it was too late for him, lol. We had many amazing conversations and cannot believe that he has passed. Rest in power, my friend. You are missed tremendously.

I first met John in 1999 when he was the lead proponent in Maryland for support of the Navy installation at Indian Head. Selfless, focused, intelligent and comfortable in creating a working coalition among people with often diverse opinions about the best path forward. John consistently met the highest standards of citizenship and always without a trace of ego. 'A very special person. RIP
