John Brannon Obituary
JOHN WILLIAM BRANNON, 90 of Kanawha City, went home to be with the Lord Sunday August 11, 2024 at CAMC General Hospital.
John was born at Ivydale, WV on April 15, 1934 to the late M.H. (Rance) and Etta Smarr Brannon. He was a former employee of Owen-Illinois Glass Company and retired from the US Postal Service. He was a member of Spring Fork Baptist Church. He loved reading the Bible which he had read through 26 times. John enjoyed playing golf, playing the piano, going to Myrtle Beach and was an avid WVU sports fan.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Alice Rose Brannon; sisters, Cleo Simon, Opal Houchins, Edna Smith, Garnet Pedigrew, Mary Lou Douglas and Annette Fowler; brother, Arthur Brannon.
John is survived by his daughters, Susan Brannon of Charleston, Tammy Carter of South Charleston and Debra Brogan of Charleston; sister, Elizabeth Sampson of Ivydale; grandchildren, Alyssa Lynn, Audrey and Sophie Brogan; great grandchildren, Preston and Marissa Lynn.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m., on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden with Pastor Mike Long officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston.
A visitation with family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service.
