HIGH POINT JOHN R. BOB BRISLEY, 95, PASSED AWAY on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Moses Cone Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Bob was raised in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Edward C. and Marie Louise O'Neill Brisley. He served his country in the US Navy during WWII. His LST participated in the invasion of Normandy on D Day. He was a graduate of Yale University. Since 1959 his working career was spent with Martin Marietta Materials and he retired as the Vice President General Manager of the Greensboro District.Bob was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and, upon his retirement, volunteered his time on various church committees. He also served as the Treasurer of the Jamestown Public Library Board, volunteered at the Jamestown Library and the Greensboro Urban Ministry, and assisted his wife with Meals on Wheels. Bob was a former member of Sedgefield Country Club and always enjoyed a round of golf, gardening and painting. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend. He will be deeply missed.Bob was preceded in death by sisters; Virginia Miller, Emily Mercer, Alean Kress and brother, Ed Brisley. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 70 years, Joan Squier of the home; children, David Brisley and wife Linda of Conyers, GA, Nan Richards of Roswell, GA, Peter Brisley and wife Mary Lynne of Asheboro, NC, Jenny Rynn and husband Bill of Boone, NC and Jon Brisley and wife Amy of Roanoke, VA; thirteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren; brother, Frank Brisley of Avon Lake, OH and numerous nieces and nephews.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Greensboro. Immediately following the mass there will be a visitation in the narthex.. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jamestown Public Library, 200 West Main Street, Jamestown, NC 27282 or Maryfield Resident Care Campaign at Pennybyrn, 109 Penny Road, High Point, NC 27260.Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel is assisting the Brisley family.
